Fundraiser for Charity

The After School Program students of First Baptist Preschool and Kindergarten held a fundraiser for charity in the third and fourth weeks of July this summer with the sales of the following items:

Bake Sale: 4 for $1

Handwoven Keychains: $1.50

Handmade Notecards:  4 for $2 (or 50 cents)

We set up a table in the entranceway of the school for two days during each week.

And we surpassed our $100 goal by earning $121!

GREAT JOB! After School Program students and
THANK YOU to the parents and families of First Baptist Preschool and Kindergarten!

With $100 of the our earnings we gave three microloans of $25 each through Kiva.org

Kiva is a microlending site. Microloans are small loans to help people in developing regions fund small businesses and other sources of income to support themselves and their families. They are also used at times by people to support their educations.

We gave $25 microloans to the following three people:

Sarah
in
Uganda

Sarah has three children in school and also supports additional family members with her used clothing business. Our $25 helps Sarah buy bales of used clothes to resell in her store. Her goals include sending all of her children to college.

Maria Elva
in
El Salvador

Maria supports her two children and her parents living at home by raising cattle and producing cheese from their milk. The $25 from our fundraiser will help Maria to buy feed and medicine to keep her animals healthy so she can continue supporting her family.

Akouvi
in
Togo

Akouvi's dream is to open a beauty shop. She currently works as a hairdresser to support her 3 year old child. Our $25 will help her dream come true of selling beauty products and styling hair out of her own salon. She hopes to provide for a quality education for her child.

And we also sponsored a child for $25

Leoran Cyanna B. Salvador
is a three year old girl in the Philippines.

Leoran and her parents live in a one room home. Our $25 sponsorship will help her parents to provide food and care to keep Leoran healthy and happy. She will begin preschool soon!

The remaining $21 went to towards the cost of the supplies used in the creation of our fundraiser sale items.

Thank you again to the parents and families of First Baptist Preschool and Kindergarten for their generosity and participation in our fundraiser for charity!
